CAT application window opens in almost no time. In about a month and a half the whispers will begin. Like every year, a huge number of students with fresh hopes and vigour will apply, hoping to get into the institution of their dreams. Naturally, it becomes absolutely crucial to stay updated with the dates and deadlines of application and examination in order to make the most of the time left for working towards that ultimate 99 percentile.
CAT, also referred to as IIM-CAT is conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management and is considered to be one of the elusive and toughest pan India entrance examinations for aspirants looking forward to a career in the world of Management and Business. The examination requires a candidate to have 50% (45% for SC/ST/DA) or above in bachelors/equivalent to apply. What you score is applicable in all IIMs and hundreds of other B-Schools across the nation but a top score does not necessarily mean an immediate acceptance by top B-schools. The weightage assigned to CAT scores differ across B-schools.

ONLINE APPLICATION: 6th of August, 2016.

Starting 6th of August 2016, you can purchase the CAT voucher consisting of the admission form. The price for General Category students is INR 1,600 whereas for those of SC/ST is INR 800. Mark the date on your calendar so that you get to access your online application form at the earliest, fill it up with clear mind and get back back to your books with fresh determination and objectives.
Prior to your applying, make sure that you have a valid email address and if possible, get into the habit of checking your mail-box daily. The IIMs will communicate with you via email and through no other means.
ADMIT CARD WINDOW: 25th October 2016 – 29th November, 2016
Once you are through with the online application, you have to wait for your admit card to arrive on the website. Then it has to be downloaded from there before the date of the examination. You enter the necessary details to get access to the card. Your name, date of the exam, venue, and roll number will be mentioned in it.
You can download the admit card up until the day of the exam but ideally, you should do it earlier for your own convenience. Do not forget to keep a hard-copy (printout) of the card ready.
EXAMINATION DATE: 29th November, 2016
The all-important date of the examination happens to be November 29 this year. The venues for the exam will be declared later on the website. Remember to not carry a Calculator. There will be one provided on screen. Carry your admit card and a valid government ID proof. A pencil and a sheet for rough work will be provided at the centre. The timing will also be flashing on the screen continuously.
Results:
The result for CAT 2016 will be declared in the second week of January, 2017. The result will be posted online on the website. The candidates will also be getting it via SMS in their register mobile phone numbers. The scorecard can also be download from the website and printed.
