Most B Schools in the world, Canada included, decide to make things more inclusive and relaxed for students as opposed to earlier times. Students could take these either or both of these tests and have an almost equal footing. The patterns are bit different, the scores are valid for five years and GRE costs fifty-five dollars less than GMAT.
While most universities prefer candidates who have taken the GMAT, there are some that bypass it totally. Let us show you how to duck GMAT and still get an MBA. Some take the GRE, some do an executive MBA, some get in on work experience that varies institution to institution.

These programs are executive MBA programs that will need a solid background in education, good scores through out and a whopping 5-7 years of work experience. These aren’t the regular run on the mill MBAs but actually are used as stepping stones for enhancing one’s job profile rather than seeking a job as a fresher.

However, if you choose to go the GRE way, there are a number of colleges that let you have an added option or in fact a parallel option to just having the GMAT. The change crept in about 5 years ago when colleges all across the globe agreed that a parallel testing option apart from GMAT would be a good idea to work on.
Want more reasons? The math and reasoning questions are usually easier on the GRE. The preparation is slightly easier and lighter and it doesn’t handcuff you to just business schools. GRE keeps your options open, GMAT locks them up. A lot more places offer the GRE test than GMAT and it isn’t restricted by geography.
