During an experiment, the pressure of a fixed mass of gas increased from 40 pounds per square inch (psi) to 50 psi. Throughout the experiment, the pressure, P psi, and the volume, V cubic inches, of the gas varied in such a way that the value of the product PV was constant.

Quantity A - The volume of the gas when the pressure was 40 psi

Quantity B - 1.2 times the volume of the gas when pressure was 50 psi

Given that PV is constant

i.e. P1V1 = P2V2

40*V1 = 50V2

V1 = 1.25V2

Let the total cost of chartering aircraft be x

Cost per person for 40 people = x/40

Cost per person for 36 people = x/36

given in the question

x/36 = x/40 + 12

x/360 = 12

x = $4320

Cost per person if 40 people charter the aircraft = 4320/40 = $108
