From A to B

Distance traveled = 120 miles

Speed = 60 mph

time taken = 120/60 = 2 hours

From B to A

Distance traveled = 120 miles

Speed = 40 miles/hour

time taken = 120/40 = 3 hours

total distance traveled = 240 miles

total time taken = 2+3 = 5 hours

average speed = 240 / 5 = 48 mph
