CORPORATE RESIDENCY MBA (CRMBA)
The Dalhousie University Corporate Residency MBA (CRMBA) offers a 22-month innovative, industry-informed and rigorous curriculum combined with an 8-month paid work experience (corporate residency).
The goal of the program is to help high-achieving, self-motivated individuals with leadership potential to launch careers and accelerate professional development.
ADMISSION
Prospective students are put through a comprehensive selection process involving a systematic review of academic credentials, cross-disciplinary admission testing, benchmarked extracurricular scoring, and in-depth behavioural interviews.
Successful candidates display exceptional potential in the areas of employability, coachability, problem solving and critical thinking to join a small multi-disciplinary cohort of 40-60 students.
FIRST YEAR CURRICULUM
An integrated core curriculum of business courses that provides a solid foundation for more advanced study, and success in the corporate residency.
Corporate Residency
An 8-month immersive experiential education process, offering substantial work experience with employer partners who are committed to fostering growth and opportunity.
Residents are paid at management-level salaries. Each resident goes through a multi-step 360 review process, where they complete self, employer and faculty/staff evaluations, along with personal goal setting projects. Students also benefit from extensive coaching.
SECOND YEAR CURRICULUM
In addition to further exploration of the functional areas of business, 2nd year students leverage the Faculty of Management’s unique, interdisciplinary, values-led approach to management education.
The program utilizes a variety of teaching and learning techniques including the case method, community engaged learning/pro bono management consulting projects and simulations.
Dalhousie’s unique in-depth multi-day unstructured (and semi-structured) integrative exercises are highly leading edge, and are backed by peer-reviewed research and industry leading best practices.
PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL EFFECTIVENESS (PPE)
Throughout the program, Personal and Professional Effectiveness (PPE) training provides students with the relevant, practical leadership skills and behaviours they need in the workplace.
Anchored by the core pillars of self-management, engagement, complexity and innovation, PPE was developed using input from our Employer Partners and Advisory Council and is honed through continuous feedback.
MANAGEMENT WITHOUT BORDERS
Interdisciplinary teams of graduate students from the Faculty of Management’s four schools come together to explore complex social, economic, ecological, political and technological forces shaping 21st century leadership in the public, non-profit and private sectors.
ROWE CONNECTS
An opportunity to apply skills learned in the classroom. Groups of 2nd year students are assigned to complete strategy formulation and strategy implementation consulting projects with local small businesses. Consulting projects are intended to enhance local productivity, regional economic development and facilitate the growth of businesses looking to compete internationally and break the $10 million sales barrier.
EXCHANGE PROGRAM
CRMBA students may complete an exchange with the Copenhagen Business School, one of Europe’s pre-eminent business schools.
STARTING LEAN
Students develop new business ideas and test product concepts with customers in the Starting Lean program, which has won national and international recognition. Areas of focus include Finance, Marketing, International Business, Business/Government and Technology and Innovation.
