Should I go for a SAT tutor?

For many SAT students, deciding between a prep class and a SAT tutor is a tough choice. Well, the answer depends on the individual student. Both come with their fair share of advantages. So, should you go in for a SAT tutor?

The biggest advantage with a SAT tutor is that he/she is there with you through the entire journey, guiding you through every small step and holding your hand through difficult terrains. You can depend on them for a good study plan, in-depth feedback on questions and essays along with the motivation to do well in the exam. The last point is especially important since the long journey towards SAT can sometimes get tough. A good tutor can also customize your plan based on your weaker areas.

If you look at some of the cons, good SAT tutors come at a higher cost. Moreover, if you get stuck with a bad tutor, it will be a waste of your time and money. It is also important that his\her teaching style matches your own preparation style. If you get someone who has a fixed preparation approach, it can limit your chances of success. Another factor that you need to keep in mind is that one-on-one learning can be a lonely process. So, if you are a social learner, it may not necessarily work for you. Additionally, tutoring does not offer the kind of flexibility offered by classes.
