So what really is the SAT College Board?

Planning to take the SAT soon? Chances are high that you may have come across an entity called the College Board. The SAT College Board is an American non-profit organization which aims to expand higher education. Why does it matter to you? Because College Board calls the shots in SAT.

Essentially, the College Board owns and publishes the SAT. It is associated with over 6000 educational entities such as schools, colleges and universities. The SAT format as well as the scoring patterns are all governed by the College Board.

The College Board was in news recently for its plan to redesign the SAT Spring 2016 onwards. According to the College Board, the new SAT will do away with the timed essay and go back to 1600 point scoring scale from the current 2400 point scoring scale. The Board website says that the new SAT will focus on math that matters most, pose real-world problems and will do away with penalties for wrong answers.
